| A Coalition Government will immediately end the shameful rorts and price gouging that has plagued the Building the Education Revolution.
The Nationals Senator for New South Wales John Williams said the former Education Minister and now Prime Minister Julia Gillard stood idly by as billions have been syphoned off in management-related fees and school communities have been loudest in their criticism. "Under Ms Gillard's watch government school building projects which have been managed by the States have been quoted as being ten times the cost of those in non-government schools which have managed their own. If it had been done right the new halls, classrooms and libraries would have been welcomed. But Labor has simply squandered money that it has had to borrow in the first place. There will be no such waste under a Liberal-Nationals government. A judicial inquiry will be held to get to the bottom of the rip-offs, schools will be able to decide which infrastructure they need and they will be able to self-manage projects, and money saved on projects can be kept by the schools for future investment. And unlike Labor, we won't be telling school principals and parent bodies not to complain. If Ms. Gillard was still at school today, she would be in the naughty corner', Senator Williams said. |
