| The Nationals Senator for New South Wales John Williams has urged people in the Bundarra Exceptional Circumstances area to apply for back payment of income support.
Senator Williams said eligible families can claim back payment to the 29th of June which was the day the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Tony Burke announced the declaration. He said claims for back payment need to be made by the 28th of August. "Centrelink representatives have been active in the district but because there is in excess of 120 families in the EC area it is a time-consuming job and there are still many they have not been in contact with. I urge those who have not had contact with Centrelink to apply for the back payment on the Rural service Drought Hotline of 13 23 16. People in the EC area can still apply for income support after the 28th of August but they will one be paid from the date their claim is lodged. The Rural Assistance Authority also has three representatives on the ground meeting with farming families and preparing their application for the interest rate relief. It has been a well-coordinated effort and financial support should start flowing through shortly", Senator Williams said. |
