| The Nationals Duty Senator for New England John Williams says the decision of the Independents to give Australia its first Labor-Greens alliance will not rest easily with people in New England.
Senator Williams said he cannot understand how the Member for New England Tony Windsor could endorse a Government that Australians had taken a big stick to at the last election. He said Mr. Windsor has either forgotten or chosen to ignore the disgraceful record of the previous Rudd-Gillard Labor Government and to the dismay of many in his electorate now gives them the tick of approval. “This goes totally against the majority view in New England. Polls run at a local and national level came back with the same result that more people wanted Mr. Windsor to back the Coalition. At the election, the Nationals polled strongly in New England taking votes off Labor. We have been left with a Labor Government that will be controlled by the Greens, and it is a sad day for regional Australia”, Senator Williams said. |
