| The Nationals Senator for New South Wales John Williams is spending three days in the Dubbo region inspecting flood damage and talking to business and property owners.
Senator Williams, accompanied by Nationals State candidate for Dubbo Troy Grant, visited Narromine and Tullamore today, and will be heading to Tomingley, Peak Hill and Trundle tomorrow. Senator Williams is a member of the Senate Economics Committee which is currently inquiring into competition in the banking sector, and is keen to hear if farmers and small business owners are getting a fair deal from their banks in difficult times. He has already called on the banks to show compassion in their dealings with people who have come out of years of drought only to be battered by floods. Tonight Senator Williams will attend a function hosted by the Tullamore Mens Shed. The Senator is patron of the Inverell Mens Shed and believes it is a brilliant concept that gives retired men a much-needed outlet. "Mens Shed's attract men from all walks of life, and the skills they have built their life around are put to good use. It's one of the best programs I've seen and I would commend it to any community". |
