The Nationals Senator for Queensland Senator Barnaby Joyce has been re-elected Leader of the Nationals in the Senate.

Senator Joyce, the Shadow Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Water, receiving overwhelming endorsement from his colleagues.

The Nationals Senator for New South Wales and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Education Fiona Nash will continue as Deputy Leader in the Senate, and her New South Wales colleague Senator John Williams retains the role of Whip.

Each vote was unanimous.

Senator Williams said The Nationals are working well as a small but committed group for regional Australia, and will continue to lead the fight against the carbon tax and the government’s unfair independent youth allowance

He said new Victorian Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie is already adding fresh ideas and versatility to the team.
