9th September, 2011

Letter to the Editor

Dear Sir,

The $8 million funding announced for the rebuilding of St.Vncent De Paul's Freeman House in Armidale is very welcome. But if one delves deeper into the funding round announced by Minister Crean from the Regional Development Australia Fund one gets extremely cynical. In September last year, Minister Crean whose portfolio is Regional Development said "we've got to get away from pork barrelling". Fast forward to yesterday the 8th of September, and Minister Crean announces nine projects in NSW under the RDA Fund, seven of which are in Labor electorates. So the Minister has completely forgotten what he said last September,or like the Prime Minister, is happy to say one thing but do another. This government has the smell of hyprocisy.

Yours sincerely,

Senator John Williams

The Nationals Senator for New South Wales
