The residents of Lyne have spoken on the carbon tax. They don't want it.The Nationals Duty Senator for Lyne John Williams today released the results of his survey in which he distributed 62,000 survey forms into homes in the Lyne electorate. Senator Williams said 3,937 people had responded, of which 3,433 or 87% indicated they are against a carbon tax being imposed on them. Port Macquarie district residents wanted their thoughts known and had the highest rate of return in either the Lyne or New England electorates.1411 said they did not support a carbon tax and just 205 were in favour, an 88%-12% split. Taree residents were vocal in their objection with 91% of the 789 returned forms objecting to the tax. "Many people put their thoughts on paper, and were not complimentary to the Prime Minister for deceiving them with her broken pre-election promise. A number queried why Australia was going to be the guinea pig when the big emitters in the world aren't acting, and some targeted the Member for Lyne Rob Oakeshott for his failure to go to his own electorate and seek their views. I think this is a wake-up call for Mr. Oakeshott as he prepares to vote on the carbon tax legislation next week. He can take notice of what his constituents are saying and vote it down, or show once and for all he doesn’t care for the views of the people who sent him to Canberra. It's his call", Senator Williams said.
