After a successful first year Apprenticeship Program in Automotive at Inverell TAFE Campus, it is time to plan for a second batch of young people who wish to undertake the course. The Nationals Duty Senator for New England John Williams says he was pleased with the outstanding response last year when 14 young people enrolled in the First Year (Stage 1) and were given on the job experience in businesses at Inverell, Glen Innes, Tenterfield and Croppa Creek. Senator Williams said there was a mixture of fulltime and school-based apprentices learning the automotive trade on light and heavy vehicles and motor cycles. "The response last year proved the course was needed at Inverell TAFE. The young apprentices could train locally and there are financial benefits to employers. The young people, their parents and the employers were enthusiastic and we now must build on that for this year's course. TAFE is now canvassing for numbers and I urge those interested to contact Inverell campus", Senator Williams said. |
