The Oxley Sub-Branch of the National Servicemen's Association in Tamworth will receive funding under the Veteran and Community Grants program. 

The Nationals Duty Senator for New England John Williams said the Sub-Branch has been given $3,025 to purchase a portable defibrillator to support the wellbeing of branch members.

Senator Williams said grants under this program improve the health and wellbeing of the veteran community by supporting a range of projects where they can learn skills to help them remain independent and active.

"Unfortunately, the Gillard Labor government has slashed $8 million from this program and the Building Excellence in Support and Training program over the next four years.

This will impact on the range of assistance provided to veterans and their families in our community", Senator Williams said.
