Minister for Regional Communications, Senator Bridget McKenzie, and the Nationals
Senator for New South Wales John Williams have announced the outcomes in Eden-Monaro
from the Priority Locations round of the Australian Government’s $220 million Mobile Black Spot Program.
Senator Williams said today’s announcement delivers on the government’s commitment to address the poor coverage issues identified at a number of locations.
Senator Williams said five locations were announced in 2016 as priority areas in Eden-Monaro and the following areas will benefit.

Lead agency announced for headspace Bega Valley

COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN and Senator John Williams, Duty Senator for Eden-Monaro today announced that Grand Pacific Health, a local not-for-profit service provider, has been awarded the role of lead agency of headspace Bega Valley.
headspace centres provide early intervention, mental health and general health services to young people aged 12 to 25.
Dianne Kitcher, CEO of the South Eastern NSW PHN, said Grand Pacific Health was selected as the lead agency following an open tender process.
“Grand Pacific Health has proven success in supporting young people with mental health issues. The organisation has established new headspace centres in Wollongong in 2008, Nowra in 2012 and Goulburn in 2017, and continues to operate these services in their local communities,” said Ms Kitcher.

Lead agency announced for headspace Queanbeyan

COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN and Senator John Williams, Duty Senator for Eden-Monaro today announced that Marathon Health, a not-for-profit service provider, has been awarded the role of lead agency of headspace Queanbeyan.
headspace centres provide early intervention, mental health and general health services to young people aged 12 to 25.
Dianne Kitcher, CEO of the South Eastern NSW PHN, said Marathon Health was selected as the lead agency for headspace Queanbeyan and headspace Canberra following an open tender process conducted by the South Eastern NSW PHN and ACT PHN (see separate release).
“Marathon Health has proven success in supporting young people with mental health issues. The organisation has successfully established headspace centres in Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo, and a satellite service in Cowra, and continues to operate these services in their local communities,” said Ms Kitcher.

FRANCHISE INDUSTRY TO BE SCRUTINISED BY PARLIAMENT

The business relationship between franchisees and franchisors is to be investigated by a Federal parliamentary committee.

A notice of motion successfully moved by Nationals Senator for New South Wales John Williams has authorised the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services to examine all aspects of agreements between franchisees and franchisors, including whether the Franchise Code of Conduct is effective.

Senator Williams has met with a number of franchisees and has heard what he describes as horror stories about how they have been treated by the parent company.

South Eastern NSW PHN announces funding to transform primary health care in Eden-Monaro

South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network today joined Senator John Williams, Duty Senator for Eden-Monaro, in announcing $165,000 in Commonwealth funding to support six local general practices in trialing new models of patient-centred care across the region.
According to Dianne Kitcher, CEO of South Eastern NSW PHN this funding is part of a broader project aimed at incrementally building the capacity and capability of general practices within our region so that they can efficiently transform to a ‘Health Care Home’ when it is rolled out nationally by the Department of Health.
“All local general practices were invited to submit an expression of interest to participate in the project, and we congratulate those who have been selected for this round of funding,” said Ms Kitcher.

Program will provide grants for major projects valued over $20 million

           Initial Applications close on 27 April 2018

The Australian Government’s highly anticipated Regional Growth Fund is officially open for applications and the Nationals Senator for NSW John Williams is calling for big ideas from the community that could help shape the future of the region.

Senator Williams said the $272 million Regional Growth Fund would support major projects in regional, rural and remote areas that delivered long-term economic benefits.
