UPGRADE OF SALT SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB

A major upgrade of SALT Surf Life Saving Club at South Kingscliff is imminent following the signing of the contracts for the work.

In announcing the milestone today the Nationals Duty Senator for Richmond John Williams said the Commonwealth Government is providing $1 million towards construction of Stage 2 of the clubhouse and SALT SLSC will contribute the balance of $265,000.

Senator Williams said the construction will include decks with stair entrances, function, training and member’s rooms, kitchen and servery, amenities, office and disabled access.

ADDITIONAL FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOLLOWING MARCH FLOODS

Today’s announcement of Category C assistance for more flood-affected areas of the Richmond electorate is great news in what has been a difficult time according to the Nationals Duty Senator for Richmond John Williams.

He said the Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and the NSW Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant have announced more areas and sectors will be eligible for grants under the jointly-funded Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.

Senator Williams said grants of up to $10,000 will be available to eligible banana, beef and soybean growers in Ballina Shire and macadamia growers in Byron Shire.

SOLAR SYSTEM FOR TWEED CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS

The Nationals Duty Senator for Richmond John Williams has welcomed the signing of the contract to provide solar for the Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre.

Senator Williams said the Australian Government is providing just over $113,000 for the supply and installation of a 99.18kW commercial solar panel system.

It includes the installation of 228 x 435W SunPower E-series photovoltaic solar panels on the roof of the Tweed Regional Gallery using a Clenergy roof mounting system, as well as two 50kw ABB inverters.

Australia’s hire industry has finally seen ‘a win for common sense’ with the passing of new legislation to release the majority of the hire industry from the clutches of the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (PPSA).

After more than five years of being tied up in red tape and where hire industry members have literally seen hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment seized and lost, both Houses of Federal Parliament have passed a Bill to fix what Bill proponent, Senator John (‘Wacka’) Williams called ‘legalised theft’.

When proposing the changes in Parliament on 11 May, 2017, Senator Williams said: “This new legislation will amend the Act's definition of a PPS lease to ensure it captures only leases which are long enough to necessitate registration on the PPS Register to meet the Act's

HELPING PARENTS PREPARE FOR WORK ON THE NORTH COAST

Disadvantaged parents of young children will soon have access to the training and support they need to become work ready, thanks to the Turnbull Government’s decision to expand the successful ParentsNext program.

The Nationals Duty Senator for Richmond John Williams said the best form of welfare is a job and the government is focused on helping more parents of young children into work.

He said ParentsNext will connect North Coast parents of young children with personalised support to improve their work readiness by the time their children start school.
