VOLUNTEER GRANTS FOR HUNTER

Eighteen community groups and individuals in Hunter will receive volunteer grants that have been announced today.

The Nationals Duty Senator for Hunter John Williams said he had been advised by the Minister for Social Services the Hon. Christian Porter that $73,000 had been approved for a range of purposes including the purchase of equipment, training and transport.

Grants are between $1,000 and $5,000.

Senator Williams said the successful recipients are –

Heal for Life Foundation (Quorrobolong) $5,000; Mayaroo Incorporated (Cessnock) $5,000; Cessnock Croquet Club $4,600; Men’s Probus Club of Morisset $1,200; Australian Men’s Shed Association (Cessnock) $5,000; Hunter Valley Aboriginal Corporation (Muswellbrook) $3,800; West Wallsend District Heritage Group $5,000; Toronto Men’s Shed $5,000; Lions Club of Toronto $4,000; Cessnock Pensioners and Senior Citizens Association $4,234; Rathmines Catalina Memorial Park Association $2,503; Edgeworth Heights Public School P & C $4,000; Elderslie Community Hall $4,500; Lake Macquarie Landcare Network $1,000; Trustee for the Salvation Army Property Trust $3,200 (Bolton Point); Mums’ Cottage Incorporated (Holmesville) $5,000; Stephanie Ekert $5,000 and Shari Bonnette $4,991.

“We thank our volunteers for giving a helping hand and building stronger communities”, Senator Williams said.
