Over $3 million has been announced for the three councils in the Richmond electorate to spend on roads under the first quarter payment of this year's Roads to Recovery programme.
The Nationals Duty Senator for Richmond John Williams said Tweed Shire Council is to receive $1.6 million to spend on seven road improvement projects at Bogangar, Banora Point, Tumbulgum, Numinbah and Nobbys Creek.
Byron Shire Council has been allocated $1.18 million for road improvements at Goonengerry and Ocean Shores, and Ballina Shire is to receive $500,000 for work at Rous Mill.
Senator Williams said some of the projects will require a contribution from the Council to complete the work.
He said councils look forward to the Roads to Recovery programme because the money comes directly from the Australian government with $1.86 billion to be distributed across the nation from this financial year through to 2020-21.
