FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY PROJECTS

Grant applications for Round 2 of the Australian government’s Safer Communities Fund are now being accepted.

The Nationals Duty Senator for Richmond John Williams said Round 2 will distribute $28.6 million in individual grants to eligible incorporated non-government or not-for-profit organisations to implement community safety and crime prevention initiatives.

Senator Williams said the maximum individual grant is $1 million.

He said applicants must indicate what initiatives they propose, such as installation of CCTV or improved lighting, to address crime and anti-social behaviour and generally increase the safety of their community.

“I encourage councils, chambers of commerce and community organisations to consider what is needed in their town to prevent, deter and detect crime.

Applications close on the 14th of November and full details and guidelines are available on the Safer Communities Fund website at  www.business.gov.au/safer-communities-fundor by calling 13 28 46”, Senator Williams said.
